Dear Patients and Friends,

I’m writing to share some important news from our practice. After more than 40 years of caring for patients and being part of this wonderful community, I will be retiring in June 2026 due to ongoing health issues.

Looking back over the years, I feel incredibly grateful for the trust and support you have shown me and our practice. It has been a privilege to care for generations of families, share in your lives, and build relationships that have meant so much to me personally and professionally. The loyalty, kindness, and connection from this community have made my career deeply rewarding, and I will always cherish the memories and friendships formed along the way.

As I step into this next chapter, I do so with complete confidence in the future of the practice. I’m very pleased to share that Jason Ding is joining the team, and I could not be more assured that you will be in excellent hands. Jason is an exceptional optometrist — highly skilled, compassionate, and dedicated to providing patient care with the same thoughtfulness and integrity that have always been at the heart of our practice. He is committed to taking the time to listen, build genuine relationships with patients, and continue the high standard of care our community deserves.

I would also like to take a moment to thank the incredible staff who have worked alongside me for so many years. The Optical Shop optometrists, dispensers, and administration team truly make our practice a wonderful place to be. While we welcome Jason, Alfred will continue to be part of the optometry team supporting both our patients and our community. The dedication, care and support of the team have meant so much to both myself and our patients, and I know The Optical Shop family will continue to provide outstanding service to our community for many years to come.

Michael and I have worked together for the past 38 years as business partners and great friends . We have built together something we are very proud of and it gives me great confidence knowing that Mick will continue the legacy we built together. You’ll find him downstairs doing his thing making sure everyone gets the best of care .

I warmly encourage you to welcome Jason as you have welcomed me over the years. I am confident you will find him approachable, caring, and deeply committed to looking after both you and your families for many years to come.
