Throughout his career, Scott has developed a strong reputation for his thoroughness, accuracy, and commitment to the long-term visual health of his patients. His extensive experience spans all areas of optometry, including comprehensive eye examinations, early detection of eye disease, contact lens fitting, and the management of complex vision conditions.

Whether working with long-time patients or those new to the practice, Scott is known for his approachable manner, attention to detail, and unwavering focus on achieving the best outcomes for every individual. Over the years, he has welcomed generations of families through the doors of The Optical Shop, building trusted relationships and offering continuity of care with open arms.

Mick’s journey in optics began right here, in this very shop,over 36 years ago. Fresh out of school and eager to learn, he started as an apprentice and quickly discovered a passion for the craft. Over the decades, that passion has only deepened.

Serving the Macarthur community for almost four decades, Mick has become a familiar and trusted face to countless families — often fitting the glasses of grandparents, parents, and now their children. His dedication to his customers has built lasting relationships grounded in trust and genuine care.

With a particular interest in the more complex side of optics, Mick thrives on solving challenging visual problems. His experience, precision, and calm confidence make him the person people turn to when things aren’t straightforward.

These days, you’ll still find him on the shop floor, doing what he loves most — working closely with customers and helping them see the world more clearly.

Jason graduated with Honours in Optometry from the University of New South Wales and has over 10 years of experience providing comprehensive eye care across both metropolitan and rural communities throughout Australia. Working in a variety of clinical settings has allowed him to develop extensive experience managing patients with diverse visual and eye health needs.

Therapeutically endorsed, Jason is experienced in diagnosing and managing a wide range of eye conditions. He works closely with local ophthalmologists when specialised care is required, ensuring patients receive thorough and well-coordinated treatment.

Jason is known for his calm, approachable, and empathetic nature. He is passionate about providing personalised care and believes every patient should feel comfortable, informed, and supported throughout their consultation. He encourages questions and takes the time to clearly explain findings and treatment options. Jason also places strong importance on follow-up care, believing ongoing support is an essential part of maintaining long-term eye health.

Outside of work, Jason enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, especially exploring the outdoors with his adventurous two-year-old son. He is also a self-confessed coffee enthusiast and enjoys keeping up to date with the latest technology and innovations.

In addition to English, Jason is fluent in Mandarin, allowing him to connect with and support a wider range of patients within the community.

With over 25 years of clinical experience, Alfred is committed to delivering comprehensive, patient-centred eye care with a strong focus on long-term vision health. He believes that good vision is vital to quality of life.

Alfred has practised in both metropolitan and regional settings, gaining broad experience in diagnosing and managing a wide variety of ocular conditions including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and complex contact lens fittings. He is therapeutically endorsed and works closely with ophthalmologists and general practitioners to provide coordinated, high-quality care.

Fluent in Cantonese and conversational in Mandarin, he can connect and communicate effectively with a diverse range of patients.

Outside the consulting room, Alfred enjoys football, cycling, and spending time in the kitchen baking sweet treats.

Carissa has been an invaluable part of The Optical Shop team since March 2010. As the backbone of our operations, she manages everything that keeps our shop running smoothly behind the scenes. From coordinating with the laboratory to ensure timely delivery of your glasses, to personally reaching out when your custom-crafted eyewear is ready, Carissa is always there to ensure the best experience for our customers.

While Mick is the face of The Optical Shop, Sharon is truly its heart. With an impressive 23 years of experience as a brilliant Optical Dispenser, Sharon has become a trusted name for personalised, caring service. She is always ready to put your needs first. Whether you’re in need of frame adjustments, repairs, fittings, or expert lens advice, Sharon is the person you can count on.

Taz is a dedicated professional with a rich background in education and corporate optics. With a Bachelor’s in Science, a Master’s in Education, and ongoing studies in Teaching, she brings a blend of academic rigour and practical expertise to her work. Taz has taught at an international preschool, provided private tutoring, and excelled as an in-store trainer and supervisor in corporate optometry.

Sean is the youngest member of the team, infusing the optical dispensary downstairs with a youthful and vibrant energy. What truly sets Sean apart, however, is his honesty and integrity. He doesn’t hesitate to share his genuine opinion, whether advising a customer on the latest trends or suggesting an alternative style that might better suit their needs. His ability to combine professional expertise with authentic recommendations ensures that customers feel well-informed and supported throughout the decision-making process.

Julie has been an integral part of our reception team for nearly 4 years. With a strong background in supportive classroom roles as an SLSO and experience in the disability services and support sector, she brought a wealth of knowledge and compassion to our team. Her caring nature has seamlessly translated into her role as an optometry assistant, where she thrives in interacting with patients of all ages. Fluent in Arabic, Julie has become an invaluable asset to our team, helping bridge communication with a diverse range of patients.

We are thrilled to welcome Stacie as the newest member of our team, Stacie brings a wealth of experience and versatility to her new role as Office Manager at The Optical Shop. With over 15 years of experience in administration and office management, she has built a solid foundation.

Karyl has become an integral part of The Optical Shop for over two and a half years, where she works alongside Scott and Alfred. In her role, she manages reception duties while also providing valuable technical support. Karyl is skilled in operating advanced diagnostic equipment, including the Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) camera, which not only takes high-resolution images of the retina but also scans the optic nerve to detect early signs of eye conditions.
